GP regains right to practise after her clinic is linked to a woman’s death following abortion

Dr Michelle Kenney can continue to treat patients as a GP but not to manage the clinic: tribunal.

A GP whose women’s health clinic was linked to the death of a woman following an abortion has won a battle to continue practising medicine.

Dr Michelle Kenney was suspended under emergency powers in May after her Hampton Park Women’s Health Clinic was banned from undertaking surgical procedures following concerns of mismanagement.

Opened in 2008, the Melbourne clinic provided pregnancy terminations, vasectomies, contraception, cervical screening and iron infusions.

It had come under scrutiny following the death of 30-year-old Harjit Kaur.
