GP reopens former Tristar practice that closed three years ago — saving patients hundreds on taxi fares

Three years after the local Tristar clinic shut down, a new GP practice has opened in Mission Beach, saving grateful residents hundreds of dollars in taxi fares.
GP Dr Kim Favier says she had to spend hours doing applications and research, but she is committed to giving the town, two hours south of Cairns, a medical service again.
While locals are happy the practice has reopened, there is community talk about how the new service does not universally bulk-bill patients as Tristar did.
“We have had people on social media making comments about how it’s too expensive and they can’t afford any practice if it’s not bulk-billed,” Dr Favier said.
