GP reveals people with symptoms refusing COVID-19 tests
A GP in a Melbourne COVID-19 hotspot is warning some patients, even those with severe respiratory symptoms, are avoiding coronavirus testing because they fear further restrictions.
Dr Amena Azizi works in Melbourne’s southeast, where Victorian health officials are struggling to contain a cluster of cases that appear to be linked to a number of Afghan-Australian households.
There are 90 cases linked to the Casey-Dandenong local council areas, making it the largest cluster outside of aged care in the state.
Of these cases, 34 are among members of five households who breached restrictions and travelled outside the 5km limit to catch up with one another.
