GP in the running for Australian of the Year
Top End GP Dr Wendy Page has worked among NT communities for 30 years, striving to eradicate a deadly parasite
For GP Dr Wendy Page the memory of a friend who died of strongyloidiasis motivated her to keep going in a 25-year quest to conquer the parasitic roundworm in the Top End.
Dr Page has just been made the Northern Territory’s nominee for Australian of the Year for her work in highlighting and eliminating the Strongyloides worm which has been widespread in Aboriginal communities.
