GP sanctioned for breaking ADHD prescribing rules says he did nothing wrong
A GP-turned-politician sanctioned by AHPRA over his decision to break prescribing rules and initiate treatment for a patient he diagnosed with ADHD has defended his actions.
Under WA regulations, GPs are banned from prescribing psychostimulant medication for ADHD, but Dr Brian Walker says he “really couldn’t justify” failing to treat the patient who he said was facing a year-long wait to see their psychiatrist.
