GP suspended for hormone prescriptions over telehealth to Ukrainian patients

The Tasmanian GP said he was acting as a 'consultant' to a doctor offshore

A GP who prescribed hormone-based medications to Ukraine-based patients diagnosed with ‘andropause’ has been suspended for three months.

The GP struck up a collaboration with a Ukrainian doctor and a Sydney-based Chinese Medicine practitioner, after the trio met at a conference, a tribunal heard.

He agreed to act as a ‘consultant’ to help facilitate access to medications for the Ukrainian doctor’s patients.

The GP had been told “bespoke” medications were hard to obtain in that country because pharmacies were controlled by the state, the Tasmanian Civil and Administrative Tribunal heard.
