GP who went to prison for smashing petrol pumps suspended from treating patients for 10 months
A UK GP who spent four months in prison after smashing petrol pumps for an anti-fossil fuel protest has been suspended from practice after his release.
In January, Dr Patrick Hart was sentenced to a year in prison for taking a hammer to 16 ExxonMobil petrol pumps, then spraying them with paint, in 2022.
He was released under conditions in April, but his conviction triggered a referral to the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service.
The General Medical Council told a tribunal hearing this month that Dr Hart’s actions amounted to serious professional misconduct and had undermined public confidence in the medical profession.
