GP wrote false vaccine exemptions, wrongly claimed mental health item when patients cried: tribunal
A rural GP who wrote 189 false COVID-19 vaccine exemptions has failed in his legal bid to have his tribunal case thrown out as vexatious.
At one stage in October 2021, a queue of patients a kilometre long stretched from the clinic of Dr Denes Borsos in rural Victoria, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal heard.
It found that the Colac GP not only wrote hundreds of unwarranted medical exemptions but also made nearly 200 cardiology referrals for patients worried about myocarditis after previous vaccination, without clinical indication.
He also incorrectly billed dozens of patients for a mental health appointment, telling the tribunal he used item 2713 because the patients were upset and “in tears” over the COVID-19 vaccine mandate.
