GPs accepting DVA gold cards are losing money, warns clinic treating 7000 veterans

Queensland's veterans, and its largest veteran-care clinic, both say DVA rebates have fallen too far behind.

GPs who accept gold or white cards are increasingly suffering financial losses for their sense of responsibility to treat veterans, experts say.

RSL Queensland says rebates for veterans — which follow Medicare indexation — are falling dramatically behind inflation, even as the Federal Government insists the number of Queensland GPs accepting veteran cards has risen 10% in four years.

One of the biggest health services for veterans in Queensland is the Brisbane clinic GO2 Health.

It has 7000 veterans on its books.
