GPs agree to repay $3m to Medicare: PSR

Eight GPs have agreed to repay $3.1 million in Medicare billings after being targeted by the Professional Services Review.
Among them is one GP who will repay $785,000 in rebates for billing more than 60 services on at least 160 days over the course of a year.
This GP was also responsible for a “large daily volume” of standard attendance items, urgent after-hours items, care plans, team care arrangements and items for excisions of benign skin neoplasms.
The PSR also raised concerns that the GP’s medical records had been inadequate and did not always provide sufficient “clinical input”.
