GPs beg to be exempted from COVID-19 exposure-site rules

GPs are urging health officials to ditch COVID-19 exposure site rules for general practices, warning they are at risk of being “serially furloughed” once restrictions ease.
Melbourne GP Dr Todd Cameron was ordered to close his practice this week after a patient who had attended nine days earlier tested positive to COVID-19.
As a ‘tier one’ exposure site, the practice was required to undergo deep cleaning, while three GPs were required to self-isolate for 14 days despite wearing full PPE, including N95 respirators.
All staff were fully vaccinated, Dr Cameron said.
