GPs ‘beg’ for more COVID-19 vaccines
Doctors have criticised the “bizarre” and patchy distribution of COVID-19 vaccines, as GPs are applauded for still managing to deliver over half of all doses in the national rollout.
RACGP NSW/ACT chair Associate Professor Charlotte Hespe has told a parliamentary inquiry of discrepancies in the number of vaccines delivered to her practice and a nearby smaller one which is a nominated respiratory clinic.
Her inner Sydney Glebe practice had more than 8000 patients waiting for a vaccine but had been receiving just 50 doses a week, she said.
Yet another nearby solo GP was getting 400 doses a week because his practice was designated as a respiratory clinic.
