Doctors in North Queensland have boycotted their local primary health network and are calling for an independent review following its involvement in the controversial Queensland pharmacy prescribing trial.

This month, the two GP board members of the Northern Queensland Primary Health Network (PHN) quit.

Neither Dr Nicole Higgins or Dr Toni Weller have publicly explained their decision.

However, a group representing 235 local doctors has written an open letter to Greg Hunt saying it is urging local GPs to “boycott all PHN events and activities, including board membership”.
