GPs earning less than a third of ENT surgeons, according to ATO statistics

ENT surgeons followed closely by urologists and neurosurgeons generated the most taxable income.

GPs’ taxable income is less than one-third of that earned by ENT surgeons, according to the latest Australian Taxation Office figures.

The median GP income was $150,989 in 2020-21, compared to $508,044 for otorhinolaryngologists.

It is important to stress that the ATO figures are based on annual tax returns and will include all doctors in each specialty working part-time.

But they do show the median GP income increased by $7000 from the previous year.
