GP’s ‘experimental’ steroid treatment for COVID-19 led to drug-induced psychosis: tribunal

A GP who prescribed excessive steroid doses for COVID-19, including to a patient who was later hospitalised for steroid-induced psychosis, has been found guilty of professional misconduct.
Dr My Le Trinh, 60, was suspended under emergency powers in 2021 following a notification from Westmead Hospital in Sydney, where one of her patients had been admitted.
The working diagnosis was recorded as drug-induced encephalopathy.
Dr Trinh had diagnosed the 51-year-old with cytokine storm following a telehealth consultation and prescribed prednisolone, doxycycline hyclate, fluvoxamine and budesonide, the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal heard.
