GPs ‘frustrated’ as vax appointments drop

GPs across southern Queensland are reporting falling numbers of COVID-19 vaccination appointments, forcing them to cancel sessions and even discard doses.
Gold Coast GP Dr Natasha Yates says she has “pared right back” her vaccination clinic despite Queensland figures showing just 50% of the region’s residents are fully vaccinated.
In frustration, last week Dr Yates fired off a tweet, asking “What’s going on Qld?” after she cancelled an afternoon vaccination session with just 12 patients booked for Pfizer doses that day.
With the Delta strain just across the border in NSW, Dr Yates fears a valuable opportunity to prepare for the next outbreak is being wasted.
