‘GPs have been awesome’: Nine million COVID-19 vaccine doses administered

They've faced major supply issues, political chaos and a fearful public, but GPs and their teams are delivering, says Associate Professor Charlotte Hespe

“We have just absolutely taken it on. GPs and GP staff have been awesome despite being pretty much unrewarded through all of this.”

This is Associate Professor Charlotte Hespe commenting on the fact that half the adult population in Australia, amid all its pandemic woes, have now received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose.

It includes 309,010 doses administered on Wednesday alone.

But it is also worth stressing that some 9 million of the 16 million doses given nationwide have been administered in general practice and primary care settings.
