Six GPs lose $15,000 after EFTPOS machine stolen from practice

Six GPs have lost more than $15,000 after thieves broke into their practice, stole a Tyro EFTPOS terminal and processed fake refunds.

Dr Nick Rhodes, medical director at the Melbourne practice, said the thieves had apparently broken through a gate and smashed a glass door before stealing the terminal from the front desk last month.

“Initially, we did not know what had happened,” Dr Rhodes told AusDoc.

“It was only when the practice manager came in that she noticed the Tyro machine had been taken.
