GPs’ ‘new normal’ is that every sniffle needs testing

GPs will have to get used to their “new normal” of encouraging patients with any minor cough or cold symptom to be tested for COVID-19 if the virus is to be controlled into the future, says a leading GP.
Dr Chris Moy, AMA SA President describes GPs as the “critical” fourth pillar in keeping coronavirus under control, alongside a prepared hospital system, contact tracing and appropriate social distancing rules.
But their role in helping contain the virus has not been recognised, the Adelaide GP said in a podcast interview for the New Daily.
“General practice is going to be the frontline for keeping (the virus) under control,” he said.
