A buddy system for exhausted and underresourced GPs at medical practices caught on the frontline of the bushfire crisis could help provide support over the next two years.

In recent weeks, inspiring stories have emerged from the immediate aftermath of the bushfires, as GPs work around the clock to tend to traumatised patients in their devastated communities despite having few resources or having lost homes themselves.
