GPs will directly receive $300 a year for each aged care patient they treat under MyMedicare, with another $130 per patient going to their practice each year.

Minister for Health and Aged Care Mark Butler announced the dollar figures at a speech at the Committee for Economic Development of Australia think tank this week.

The new aged care incentive, which is scheduled to begin in August 2024, is one of two key block-funding measures under the MyMedicare patient enrolment scheme, alongside payments for hospital frequent flyers.

Almost 200,000 patients in aged care will be eligible for the funding package.
