GPs push back after out-of-town corporate picked to run urgent care clinic

A group of health professionals have written to the PHN expressing concern over its decision.

GPs say a corporate without an established practice in their town was chosen to run an urgent care clinic despite “well-established local practices” meeting the tender criteria.

Local doctors and other health workers have written an open letter to Country to Coast Queensland Primary Health Network (PHN), which ran the tender process, asking why GP corporate ForHealth won the urgent care contract.

GP Dr Chris Woollard, who co-ordinated the letter, said locals were “perplexed and disappointed”.

“The community would have liked to see investment into existing services,” he said.
