GPs refusing to see unvaccinated patients due to scarce PPE

Finding N95 masks has become a 'nightmare' for GPs, leaving some unwilling to do face-to-face consults, says AMA SA's president
Dr Michelle Atchison.

Some GPs are refusing to see unvaccinated patients in SA, as they scramble to find adequate PPE after the state’s borders reopened.

As the first potential cases of Omicron emerge, AMA SA has revealed it has been inundated with queries from GPs having trouble sourcing N95 masks and face shields.

It has also fielded numerous calls from patients complaining their doctor is refusing to see them because they’re not vaccinated against COVID-19.

President Dr Michelle Atchison says under new SA Health guidance doctors don’t need to isolate if they’re wearing an N95 mask and face shield when exposed to a COVID-19 positive patient.
