Vulnerable GPs at risk of contracting COVID-19 will be able to conduct MBS-funded telehealth consults from their homes, the Federal Government has revealed.

A series of new attendance items, which must be bulk-billed, were originally introduced on 13 March.

They ensured patients of doctors placed in isolation as a result of the outbreak were still able to claim Medicare rebates for telehealth consults with their patients.

But the government has announced they will be expanded from Monday to include patients of GPs aged 70 and over, those with a child aged less than 12 months, and pregnant GPs.
