GPs left with $62,000 repayment plan after working for debt-ridden corporate

GPs owed a collective $186,000 from debt-ridden corporate I-Medical Australia will be paid one-third of the amount, with one doctor saying the saga has tarnished rural locum work.
I-Medical Australia only launched in March last year before opening bulk-billing clinics in WA towns Kalgoorlie and Norseman, yet it soon faced financial trouble.
In November, the company’s director hired a restructuring partner to help manage $500,000 in debts, who drew up a repayment plan offering 30c per dollar.
Documents lodged with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission show that the repayment plan will go ahead after seven of 11 creditors who responded voted in favour.
