Amid the doom and gloom of poor Medicare rebates and pandemic burnout, GPs are being urged to join a social media campaign to rediscover the “joy in general practice”.

The #JoyInGeneralPractice thread is the brainchild of globally known Brisbane GP, Dr Jillann Farmer, a former medical director of the UN.

“There is frustration, sure. But plenty of joy, and it’s important to talk about that too,” she wrote under the Twitter hashtag.

Kicking off the thread last week, Dr Farmer listed having a formerly depressed patient “bounce through the door” and announce they felt like themselves again as one of her “joys”.
