GPs say they need funding to cope with the flood of patients worried about exposure to coronavirus.

There are growing concerns that general practices may not be properly equipped to act as a point of first contact for patients with suspected coronavirus, as the number of confirmed Australian cases rises to seven.

The most recent case was confirmed by health authorities in Queensland on Wednesday, in a Chinese tourist who had recently flown to the Gold Coast from Melbourne.

Queensland’s Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young reported the 44-year-old man from Wuhan, China, was in a stable condition and was being kept in isolation at Gold Coast University Hospital along with four other passengers from his flight.
