GPs urged to lodge backdated claims after Medicare glitches

Doctors who were thwarted by a nationwide Medicare outage should retrospectively lodge any claims that failed to go through earlier in the week, Services Australia says.
Online MBS, PBS and Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) claims reportedly suffered crashes and delays on Monday and Tuesday after a Services Australia computer update over the weekend.
The department said GPs who had tried to lodge claims that were not processed immediately could resubmit them, adding that the system had returned to normal on Wednesday.
It sent an alert to general practices, pharmacies and hospitals on Tuesday evening acknowledging the issue.
