Greg Hunt is “disappointed” by the RACGP’s call for GPs to abandon universal bulk-billing as it fails to acknowledge the government’s investments in health funding, his office says.

It comes after Dr Karen Price urged GPs to privately bill “as many people as possible” in a speech at the college’s Annual General Meeting last week.

She said this would put pressure on the Federal Government to improve the Medicare rebates for GP care.

“The problem that we have is that we are bulk-billing 90% of services,” the RACGP president told members over videoconference.
