Guild wants pharmacists to prescribe COVID-19 antivirals over the counter

Doctors have slammed a pharmacist campaign to make COVID-19 antivirals available over the counter, saying it would put patients at risk given the long list of contraindications for the novel drugs.

The Pharmacy Guild of Australia demanded on Thursday that all state and territory governments make nirmatrelvir–ritonavir (Paxlovid) and molnupiravir (Lagevrio) available without a prescription “as a matter of urgency”.
