HCCC refuses to back down after warning GP for ‘inappropriate’ media comments

The NSW Health Care Complaints Commission is refusing to back down after issuing an official warning to a GP who spoke out against anti-vax misinformation, claiming he made “offensive assumptions” about patients.
The watchdog was criticised over its handling of an anonymous complaint against Dr Simon Holliday who had been interviewed by his local paper, the Manning River Times.
After reviewing the article, the commission claimed he had made “judgemental and unprofessional comments about Liberals over 60”.
While the article (see below) makes no references to “Liberals over 60”, it sent him a letter warning him to “maintain constructive communication” and to “reflect on and improve your practice”.
