‘He was my hero’: GP’s final selfless act before being taken by crocodile

Family and friends have paid tribute to the GP who died after being taken by a crocodile in Far North Queensland, describing the final “selfless act” that saved his wife’s life
Newcastle GP Dr David Hogbin had been on a camping holiday with his wife Jane and three young children when he died in the freak, horrific accident, sister-in-law and journalist Alexis Carey revealed.
The 40-year-old was walking along an established path, 15 metres above the Annan River near Cooktown on Saturday, when the bank gave way, she wrote in her tribute on news.com.au.
He fell into the river, but the terrain meant he was unable to get back out of the water.
