Health officials have told doctors they could be reported to AHPRA for striking next week and defying a legal ban on taking industrial action.

The Australian Salaried Medical Officers’ Federation NSW (ASMOF NSW) is urging doctors to walk off work on 8-10 April, leaving hospitals with public holiday staff levels.

The union told AusDoc that doctors across several health districts had received letters on Thursday saying that NSW Health could report them to AHPRA or the NSW Health Care Complaints Commission.

“Since the strike was announced, doctors across NSW have received communications from NSW Health threatening disciplinary action and even AHPRA referrals for participating in industrial action,” said ASMOF NSW President Dr Nicholas Spooner.
