Health ministers pledge to lift ban on doctors using patient testimonials

GPs will be allowed to use patient testimonials to advertise their services under looming changes to the national law.
Currently, doctors are banned from using positive reviews and recommendations from patients about their care in their clinics, public advertising, their practice websites or social media platforms.
The ban doesn’t extend to third-party websites such as RateMDs and Google Reviews.
However, federal, state and territory health ministers are expected to launch a consultation later this year on draft legislation to lift the ban.
