The clock is ticking on one of the biggest crises in the Australian public hospital system.

In seven days, more than 200 staff psychiatrists in NSW will resign, leaving just 60 to keep the state’s mental health system running.

The psychiatric workforce in the state is already decimated.

One in three current positions are unfilled because salaries are 30% below those of public psychiatrists in other states, the doctors claim.
