High Court blocks appeal after PSR demands GP hand over 25 years of patient records
Dr Matthew Yoong challenged the PSR over its request for up to 25 years of medical records.
A GP is now banned from Medicare after the High Court of Australia refused to hear his appeal against a court ruling that he hand over compete medical records relating to 76 patients to the Professional Services Review.
The Medicare ban on Dr Matthew Yoong was first imposed back in 2021 and was a result of his delay in handing over patient records to the Professional Services Review (PSR) so the watchdog could review his Medicare claims.
For the last four years, the watchdog and the solo doctor have been locked in a dispute centred on one question:
Dr Yoong won the first round in 2023.
