High-profile doctor who called a nurse a ‘f***ing witch’ loses $2 million discrimination case
A founding member of ACRRM who claimed his locum job was cancelled because he was considered too old, has lost his $2 million age discrimination claim.
Dr Peter Chilcott originally launched the case against Townsville Hospital and Health Service (THHS) and its rural medical director, Dr Paul Lane, after the cancellation of his two-week locum stint at Hughenden Hospital back in 2021.
Dr Chilcott had claimed emails written by Dr Lane had said, “I personally think Peter should retire” and “I think the long stint doing call is too much.”
He went on to tell the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission that terminating his contract amounted to “forced retirement” and was a “callous and malicious intent to destroy and defame” his reputation as a founding senior member of ACRRM.
