HIV and hepatitis B warning after investigators raid cosmetic clinic

Patients are at risk of HIV and hepatitis B due to poor hygiene practices at a cosmetic clinic where unregistered staff allegedly performed cosmetic surgeries, the NSW regulator warns.
The Health Care Complaints Commission (HCCC) is urging patients who received breast implants, facial or nasal line carving and other invasive procedures at the Fresh Cosmetic Clinic to consult their GP for bloodborne virus testing.
In a public warning this week, the HCCC said it executed a search warrant after several complaints and found that unregistered staff were injecting dermal fillers, botulinum toxin, hyaluronic acid and anaesthetics.
Evidence suggested that unregistered practitioners were also performing cosmetic surgeries, a HCCC spokeswoman said.
