Hospital suspends registrar who said ‘some women deserve to be raped’

The emergency medicine registrar who said “some women deserve to be raped” has been suspended from work while his employer investigates.
Dr Christopher Kwan Chen Lee was handed a six-week ban by the Tasmanian Health Practitioners Tribunal last month after he admitted to posting violent and sexist comments in an online forum.
In December 2016, in a series of comments on a technology website called Hardware Zone, Dr Lee wrote that a woman should “be abandoned in India and repeatedly raped”.
Dr Lee, who was working at Royal Hobart Hospital at the time, also said: “If my marriage fell apart, it would not end in divorce. It would end in murder.”
