Hospitals should have trained disability workers, according to the mother of two boys who have an intellectual disability.

Narelle Reynolds says her sons Luke and Justin, who have Fragile X syndrome, become extremely anxious when they have to go to hospital.

One son fears staff are trying to harm him, and the other has had to undergo nine failed attempts to undertake a biopsy.

The issues came to light ahead of Monday’s Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability hearing in Sydney.
