Hospitals’ ‘unfortunate’ mask bungle unmasked

Doctors at Monash Health have received conflicting instructions on mask mandates for patients and visitors, following an “unfortunate” bungle by administrators.
At 8.45am on Tuesday morning, staff received an email saying that visitors were no longer required to wear masks at Monash Health sites.
The letter cited the low levels of COVID-19 in the community.
But just five hours later, the directive was reversed, with an updated alert stating that mask protocols would remain the same.
