‘Hostile and rigid’: Private hospital chain threatens to cut ties with major insurance group
Its holdings include the 88-bed Sydney Private Hospital and 70-bed Delmar Private Hospital in Sydney.
A private hospital company is laying down the gauntlet against the country’s largest insurer buying group, in the latest stoush between private hospitals and health insurers.
Macquarie Health Corporation owns 12 hospitals in NSW and Victoria.
But it has accused the Australian Health Service Alliance of taking a “hostile and rigid” approach during contract negotiations.
As a result, Macquarie it says it will scrap its funding agreement with the alliance, leaving its customers to pay full up-front costs unless a new deal is found by 16 March.
