‘I know I’m not alone’: GP’s five-month battle to find her own GP

After moving to start life in a new community, GP Dr Melania Scrace eventually set about finding her own doctor.
But as a very clear example of Australia’s GP workforce crisis and its effects, it would be a five-month wait between trying to make an appointment and eventually seeing a GP.
Three practices in her new home of Yamba told her their books were full.
“I am not alone in struggling to find a doctor in my area; a lot of people have said the same thing,” Dr Scrace told 6minutes.
