How GP Dr Josh Saunders went from running a marathon dressed as a bee to an AFL show stopper watched by millions

GP Dr Josh Saunders took part in the Big Freeze after being chosen as the first-ever community fundraiser to go down the slide.

GP Dr Josh Saunders has run a marathon dressed as a bumblebee to raise money for motor neurone disease research.

But his fundraising efforts reached a new level this month when he hurtled down a slide into an icy pool at the MCG, the spiritual home of the AFL.

A 90,000-plus crowd, most wearing FightMND blue beanies, packed the MCG for the 12th Big Freeze fundraiser ahead of the match between Collingwood and Melbourne.

The TV audience peaked at three million.
