A new RACGP-specific interest group on ADHD, autism spectrum disorder and neurodiversity has been launched, with regional NSW GP Dr John Kramer its inaugural chair.

Dr Kramer, who has a practice in Woolgoolga, has had a longstanding interest in paediatric developmental medicine and is an adjunct associate professor at UNSW Rural Clinical School, Coffs Harbour.

Here, he talks with Australian Doctor about the guidance currently available to GPs, the challenges associated with diagnosing ADHD and why “neurodiverse” patients should be nurtured to reach their full potential.
