Doctors have reported how long COVID triggered a “striking” case of acrocyanosis, which would set in minutes after standing.

A 33-year-old man, managed by Dr Manoj Sivan at the University of Leeds in the UK, had a six month history of the discolouration following a SARS-CoV-2 infection.

On standing, the man’s legs began to redden after a minute, becoming increasingly more blue with his veins growing more prominent, Dr Sivan and colleagues reported in The Lancet.

After 10 minutes, the blue colour was more pronounced.
