Are doctors the worst patients?

Award-winning writer Dr Peter Goldsworthy was forced to reflect on this, his illness, and his patients when he was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2018. 

The Adelaide GP did what all good doctor-writers do, and wrote a book about his experience so far, called The Cancer Finishing School.

This extract recounts his first appointment with haematologist Dr Noemi Horvath, shortly after his diagnosis, and his shock at discovering he may never work as a GP again.
