As GPs move into diagnosing and managing patients with ADHD, practice nurses can help enhance the services they provide, a nurse leader says.

Nurse consultant Bel Davis envisages RNs becoming involved in ADHD care in several ways, including running education groups modelled on those for patients with diabetes or breast cancer.

She will speak about her vision at the Festival of Nursing, a Melbourne conference running from 30 July to 1 August featuring 100 speakers and some 700 delegates.

Ms Davis, who has a postgraduate qualification in child and family health, said she has been developing an ADHD education module for nurses through the Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association.
