How treating a staff member’s chest pain led to a complaint against the GP

The case is a reminder to avoid treating staff and colleagues where possible: Avant.

A staff member who convinced GPs at his practice to assess his chest pains ended up making a complaint to AHPRA about the practice’s treatment of him, Avant has revealed.

When the staff member booked an appointment for chest pain, the GP agreed to see him in case he required emergency care.

After a normal ECG, the GP advised the staff member to follow up with his regular GP, according to the case outlined by Avant.

Later that week, the GP shared his blood test results and advised him to see a cardiologist in three weeks if the symptoms persisted.
