Hundreds of aged care staff and residents infected with coronavirus

There are fears the numbers of resident deaths will surge in coming weeks

The death toll from COVID-19 is expected to surge after hundreds of aged care residents and staff across Victoria were diagnosed with coronavirus over the weekend.

Patients are moved from St Basil’s Home for the Aged Care.

The state recorded 459 new cases on Sunday along with 10 deaths, seven of which were linked to aged care facility outbreaks.

There are now 560 active cases in 40 aged care homes, including 82 cases
